Who of you know Laura Diaz? Of course most of you know about her or if you don’t know her, she is known to be the number one Nation’s Leaders in News. Laura grew more popular with the Los Angeles community. In 1994 Laura was one of the two hosts of Vista L.A. Vista L.A. was the first public affairs show in southern California aimed at English-speaking Latinos. Laura was born in Santa Paula, but she was raised and grew up in Santa Clarita. After being passed up for a few years prior for a lead anchor position, all of her hard work paid of in 1997, when CBS Laura Diaz was named the lead anchor for the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Laura was the first Hispanic woman to ever hold such a title. She is one of the successful Hispanic anchor women of her time. Laura is an eight time Emmy Award winner, including an Emmy in 2006 for Individual Achievement in Feature Reporting, she also one back to back Golden Mike Awards in 2005 and 2006 for best feature reporting. In 2005 Laura landed the first in depth television interview with incoming Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa which earned her a National Image Award in 2006. She also has done an interview with undercover ATF agent Billy Queen who infiltrated the biker club. In 2003 Laura received the L.A. Press Club’s highest honor for journalistic excellence before moving on to producing.
Ms. Laura Diaz also takes time to do charity work which is dear to her heart. She is on the board of trusties of The Joyful Child Foundation and has established 51 charity programs since 2004. Like the Kids Next Door program, most of these in the southern California area. Along with funding the Joyful Child Foundation and the Samantha’s Pride initiative, Laura also make donations to funds for children’s creative writing and artistic programs, funding for non-profit organizations to prevent child abuse and research into predator behavior and recidivism.
