Eating Out - Good Nutrition And Healthy Practices

Here are some meal practices that can also help ensure your family good nutrition at the same time your saving a little bit of your money. For one avoid eating out. Eating in restaurants and fast food chain not only gets you off track of your health regimen, it also leaves burn marks on your wallet and it will also give you thousands of calories and several grams of unwanted fat in our body. Plus we don't really know the quality of preparation they invested in preparing your food. Second if you can't avoid eating out, there are still ways to keep the cost low and nutrition high. But if you do eat out, here are some tips that might help us.

* Don't up size side orders like french fries. The lower the calorie intake and lower the cost but still gives you a small serving of food you are craving for. Ditch the fries for a fresh green salad instead. As we all know fries are deep fried in oil and most fast food restaurants don't even drain them properly anymore before serving them to you, giving you extra calories and fat.

* Instead of soft drinks or juice just order plain water. Cola drinks and artificially flavored juices usually pack a lot of sugar. Water is free just ask for a courtesy cup with some ice at the counter.

* Instead of mayonnaise or gravy, choose ketchup. Also choose tomato-based sauces in pastas or viands instead of cream-based ones. This is because tomato products provide a good amount of vitamins like vitamin A, B6, C and E, potassium, iron, calcium, niacin, folate, phosphorous, chromium and protein. Tomatoes also fight many types of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The best part is that most restaurants offer ketchup for free.

I eat out very little. My husband has a terrible reaction to MSG which is unfortunately included in most fast food. However ... I can eat out and recently enjoyed the Wendy's Blue Cheese Burger! They must have put something very addictive in it. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and yearning for my next ...

Cheers! V.

Preach it, sister! We stopped eating out about a year ago, and only ever go if it's a social occasion, like someone else invites us. It has helped us save a ton of money, and has really made an improvement in my health.
