Need To Know About Sweet Potato



Sweet Potato is known in the Philippines were I grow up as Camote and it is one of the 129 most nutritious food on the planet. It has a higher nutritional value than common potato. The tuber is high both simple and complex carbohydrates, fiber, beta carotene, vitamin B6 and vitamin C, while the young leaves contain A, B and C, protein, lipids, iron, calcium, phosphorous, complex carbohydrates and dietary fiber. Despite of delicious flavor and nutritional benefits it is easy to grow plants it does not require artificial fertilizers or pesticides. Also it can be your main of your carbohydrates. You can either steamed, boiled, grilled or you can make as piping hot sweet potato cue or crispy sweet potato fries and you make this as a simple healthy snack. This can also help control blood sugar and lower insulin resistance. Sweet potato tubers and tops can be a part of your healthy diet especially for people with diabetes. Some make it a habit to consume blanched sweet potato leaves as a vegetable or even drink the water in which the leaves is cooked. The crushed of the leaves are used traditionally to treat boils or acne while the roots can be boiled to make treatment for diarrhea. So it is nice to know how does sweet potato will help our body, so we need to include sweet potato in our diet.

I love camote. Good thing that its available here but not as good as the ones back home.
